- Minimum: $5,000
- Repayment term: 10 years, interest-free
- Loan type: Unsecured personal loan on approved credit
- A maximum of one loan is available per eligible property and homeowner.
- The maximum eligible loan amount is calculated based on the retrofits selected in the application and the quotes for this work. The eligible amount is capped based on industry standards and market norms. The maximum eligible loan amount may be less than your quoted cost, in which case you will be responsible for funding any difference.
- Once approved, a portion of the loan can be delivered up front to assist in paying any deposits required by your contractor. The balance of the loan will be delivered after the retrofits have been completed and verified through a post-retrofit evaluation.

Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit
Canada's Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit (ITC) offers a 30% refundable tax credit for commercial solar installations.
The credit is available for investments made between March 28, 2023 and December 31, 2033. The business must own the solar project and install it during the tax year in which the credit is claimed. There is no limit on the size of the project, the larger the system, the larger the savings.
Solar already has immense benefits by itself. With the addition of the federal ITC, business owners can lower their payback period for even faster savings. Another great benefit is having the ability to stack the tax credit with available rebates or funds in your area. Many provinces are working on promoting the adoption of renewable energy in their own way, offering loans and funds for your potential solar project. Use the ITC together with another incentive to lower the initial upfront cost. Depending on what your province or city offers, you could cut down your payback period to just 5 years!
The ITC can be combined with other financial incentives, such as:
- The Capital Cost Allowance (CCA), which allows a 75% write-off of solar project costs in the first year.
- BC Hydro rebates, which can be up to $25,000
- Utility company solar programs, including Net Metering.
